Goniatites were an order of ammonites (cephalopods) and had a spiral-chambered shell. They most likely lived as slow swimmers near the bottom with little current movement. Our Goniatiums are found in layers of black marble. All pieces are carefully polished, the opening of the living chamber remains raw.

Age: about 300 to 400 million years (Devonian to Permian)

Location: Morocco
