Steller`s sea cow rib
Stabilized, but porous structure is not filled up with resin.
The Steller`s sea cow was a 10 tons, 10 meter Dugon like animal that swam in the surface and fed on kelp.
Sailors and whalers who followed the Vitus Bering route to Alaska, sadly hunted the animal to extinction by about 1768.
The animal had a very solid bone structure - and ribs, found and retrived by natives along the Alaska coast, make great handle material.
Measures are understood: Length x (size of front oval) x (size of rear end oval ) in mm.
